Enabling "Hopping Between Ships" Increases Gameplay Variety

I'm not exploring right now because that means I have to go out in the middle of nowhere and it would make it difficult to get back in time for a community event for example. I want to explore, but I don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. For when I get tired of it and want to do something else.

how would you explain this lorewise?

i think if you do some deep space exploration, there's some commitment to it. you decide to go out there and accept all the downsides. if, at any point in time, you decide to do something else, you have to get back on your own.

however, when it comes to having multiple ships in multiple different stations, people have suggested several things like, for example, a towing service. this i can get behind and it actually works within the lore.

getting teleported from way out there back to civilized space does not fit the game lore and it would oversimplify deep space exploration.

If you want to go travelling then you have to accept that you can't instantly teleport back - sort of makes it a bit pointless otherwise.

You are meant to be that commander in your ship. You have no instant teleport option.
