Enabling SMAA antialiasing made the game hyper smooth ?

Really strange discovery I made today. I followed quite every tutorials about optimizing Elite for the Rift, and was still running everything on low, and still had some latency issues sometime despite my Geforce 760, i7 quad core and 16go RAM.

So I was fiddling with reshade options to see if I could enhance antialiasing, and saw that it did not made any difference at all, for comparison I tried to activate in game antialiasing (SMAA) and to my suprise EVERYTHING was hyper smooth, I was inside a station too...

Can anyone try this and tell me if it's just a coincidence or this really works ? It could be just me (btw I'm still in low quality setting for everything, but I'll try to fiddle a bit more).

Edit : my bad, tried a bit more to fiddle and seems that the antialiasing OFF or ON don't change a lot to framerate, it's more the overclocking I did yesterday that got me some more FPS to boost just a little the graphic settings. Still a shame that I can't put everything on ultra with that setting :(

In game SS, even 1.5x, is what gives me the feeling of Ultra Smooth. Crisp and clear. You need overclocking and sacrifices in other things (like the Oculus Quality slider), but it's the best single thing I've done since all these months of tweaking and tech blogging on the compendium

wow with a geforce 760 ? if you can manage that in the dk2 amazing job! Most cant get anywhere near that in much higher end gear lol
