Enclosure size requirements?

For Example: Looking at the AZA for lion care: https://www.speakcdn.com/assets/2332/lion_care_manual_20121.pdf

It says "Space Outdoor Enclosures: The outdoor space needs will vary depending on the size and demographics of the pride. According to the 2010 AZA Lion SSP Space Survey, the majority of exhibits are over 929 sq m (10,000 sq ft), which should be considered the minimum size for new exhibits. Exhibits for institutions that plan to breed and/or hold more than three animals should be larger, and ideally have the ability to divide that outdoor space into two exhibits to manage future social issues. Alternatively, an outdoor off-exhibit holding yard also provides space for managing multiple groups of animals."

Will the game be following the world real needs of these animals concerning spacial requirements?

I think it was mention before that while any and every exhibit design will be permitted, thus allowing for creativity and imagination to flourish, exhibits that are detrimental to the animals would not be rewarded by the game (My best guess, is that we will be unable to keep on adopting animals if we do not meet some basic standards of living for each species) Having a actual size requirement for exhibits could be tricky, and possibly lead to malfunctions in the game, imagine i wanted to create an African exhibit, that instead of being your traditional big savanna space (As the one shown in the game) was a series of exhibit spaces that connected underneath and above guess paths, and went around most of the zoo, without covering a very wide area, but more of a intricate and heavily enriched long space that the animals could freely travel. In some areas the exhibit would be very narrow, in others certain species would be restricted from traveling outside of specific areas, like Hippos, Rhinos and Crocs. But if there are actual size requirements in place, the game might not understand what it is that I'm doing, and severely limit creativity and imagination.

I was just wondering, if we have all required enrichment/living conditions positive inside the enclosure but the enclosure happened to be small like 400sqft for say a lion, will the game know that it may cause the animal stress and therefore lower the zoo rating?

I understand your point, we will have to wait and see. I particularly love how certain zoo's that have very limited space with no available options for expansion, somehow managed to create superb habitats for their animals with plenty of enrichment. Antwerp Zoo and Bioparc Fuengirola come to mind as perfect examples. Antwerp one of the oldest zoo in the world, has a fantastic lion exhibit, seems fairly spacious, all things considered, yet the zoo is very small in comparison to the large number of species it holds.

True their lion exhibit is nice but they still very much need to improve their exhibit for the leopards and where the tigers used to be (last time I was there the offspring of the spectacled bear was in it after the tigers died of old age). And I’m not really sure if they have enough space to give these animals what they deserve. I guess we’ll have to see because they’ve been renovating or planning to renovate a few exhibits (like primates was on the list too I believe).
