Last November I was pretty inspired by Macedonia's rescue by 'Chigggy' VonRictofen. If you're not familiar with the story, which is set on the edge of the galaxy and encompasses a rescue in truly epic Shakleton proportions, read at least the first few pages of this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/308075-End-of-the-Road/page1
CMDR Macedonia's sense of loss, tempered by the community support and Chiggy's determined journey across the stars ended in an amazing rescue and seeing as I enjoy making music I thought I would take a stab at writing a few pieces to connect with that story.
So here we have 5 tracks which cover each 'chapter' that I hope some of you may enjoy. You can play direct through Soundclick but I tagged them as free to download as well.

1. In the Black. Giorgio Moroder meets Tangerine Dream, as Macedonia flits from star to star. I tried to keep all the samples 'space' relevant - the background noise on the intro is a recording of the earth's magnetic radiation, the woman's voice (sadly) is supposedly a Soviet cosmonaut who burned up on re-entry in 1961, and the 'Sunbeam' word is of course Carl Sagan.
2. End of the Road. Macedonia realizes his ship can go no further, the "One...Two" referencing the only star options he has. I wanted to get a good engine sound in here and quite pleased with the result at the end.
3. Trust In Me. The message of despair is received around the galaxy, and Chiggy sets out. I struggled to find a good motif for our plucky rescuer but it always ended up a bit naff. Decided to go with a steady acoustic rhythm to represent solid determination and consistency!
4. Germanium. This is what it was all about. Macedonia is waiting anxiously for the arrival of Chiggy (IRL this moment is watched by several hundred people) who gets his acoustic rhythm motif back, and the mining starts. The Germanium drop moment was a good excuse to get some guitars out and give us a 'Comfortably Numb' outro.
5. Epilogue. I wanted to have a sort of twist-warning a la War of the Worlds so added this last night. All sounds very pleasant, but hey, you don't know what might be round the corner. Mix is a bit suspect so I might upload a new version later.
The style won't appeal to all, but I hope it's enjoyed by some. I did want to thank Macedonia and Chiggy for an inspiring gaming/life cross-over
<EDIT> Soundclick places some fairly havy compression on the mp3 files. If you want a decent copy in wav format pm me.
