Endgame

What is this endgame in Elite that keeps being mentioned in these forums? Am I missing a secret section of the game?*

[SUB]*sarcasm intended[/SUB]

Hah, got you guys beat, I found the seekrit station entrance! It's a double-door Coriolis. Fly all the way through it, you emerge in Elite: XP Edition where you CAN finally get to the end. I was disappointed though, I think the very end needs a rewrite and it did weird things with the character arcs.

It's people who have rush grind to a Corvette and can't understand why they have nothing more to do :)

They've missed the game in their rush to a nonexistent mythical gaming paradise :)

It was all a lie? Are you saying it was all a lie?? Are you saying that the 3200 hours was all to no avail ? That there is no gate in which I be given a Battleship, with God mode Lazor's and all the Engineering stuff for free, and "ganking" all day long?
Is all this just "fake News" another ugly, horrible Iternez scam ?
I'm just so depressed now!
Devs we want Endgame! Now!

Anybody finds the Endgame, I'm in for a wing!

Cheers Cmdr's

There is no end game in this game, is what some people don't understand. This game is a living world which is constantly evolving...so nope...no end game here.

I personally set objectives from time to time to complete, get some ship, engineer this or that, grind some money, trade some stuff, heck now I need to explore a bit...SRV time? hell yes!...etc. The game gets better when there is no need for the grind, either credits, materials or whatever...when you are actually free to do your own thing. Of course the game needs some more things to do aside from missions and stuff like that, or needs more tools to do the typical things you do in a sandbox game.

The concept of endgame doesn't necessarily mean that the game is over. It can also mean that one already reached the maximum possible level. Or in other words, that there is no other level above that. For some, the fun is to get the best of anything in the game, for others, the fun might be in something else.

In my case, one of the things that keep me going - but not the only one - is wondering what is it like to fly other ships. I have no hurry in doing so, but I am sure that once I tried them all, and once I get a Corvette or an Anaconda, the motivation to keep playing will potentially go down (unless the game seriously improve towards more player interaction and cooperative play). I guess this holds true to many, if not most players around.

Nevertheless, if we define 'endgame' in a more strict way, as some sort of 'game over', then yes. Elite doesn't have that. But is similar to WoW and others; once you get the max of everything, you can still play, on and on.

Whether or not you feel like playing the game or not after reaching such point has nothing to do with being better at it or not understanding the game though.

You have arrived at the forums. Some call them the endgame...

Well the interactive features here are more honed and nuanced than in regular Elite. Weekly thread raids, invasions by faction fighters from other games, instant-action combat by way of buzzword activation, permanent combat sub-arenas like Hotel California, rookie cannon fodder blowing up all the everything and duels between bitter veteran enemies. Halftime clowncar show of the widest variety. Forums gots all the features.

Black hole located a few hundred light years beyond Beagle Point. You go into it and find yourself back in a sidewinder with no money or friends. Better get going, guys, it's a loooong trip:)

i think the gateways of raxxla are as much of an endgame as you can get in this game.

the alien construct allowing access to many places including other galaxies are very convenient, and the treasures and bounties you can find there are well worth searching for it. i'm always wondering whether other commanders talking about "endgame" even know about it?

it's a total gamechanger in fact once you have found it.

To me the end game is when you have obtained all the equipment (ships/modules) that you need to do whatever it is you wish to do. No more grinding rep, credits or anything. You have everything you wanted and can now start doing whatever you want.

I call that the end of the beginning.

If I fly by this definition then my endgame occurs, like, all the time. I frequently am on stages of the game experience where those conditions are met. Weird that my endgame is never at the end. >____>
