Engineers Eng - Rapid fire - Something makes no sense.

So I was enjoying my evening on Youtube, watching people debunking the 2.2.3 beta... When I came across the Rapid Fire modification. Which makes no sense at all:

The weapon modifications grants
-An increase in Damage Per Second (DPS)
-An increase in Rate Of Fire (RoF)

But:
if you increase your RoF, now you deal more damage per second... And now would someone be kind enough to explain me the use of the stat above? So to say DPS

if DPS = Dmg x RoF
The equation stays true. So if you increase the RoF AND the DPS, it means you are also changing the damage >.>

I'm confused by mistakes such as these :)

Likewise:
Shortrange blaster: =>increase in Damage
=>increase in DPS

WHy??

The DPS is increased BECAUSE of the increase in RoF

The dps slider that you see in engineering is more a result of an eventual increase in damage and/or rate of fire.

It also increases heat generation due to the increased rate of fire, even though the thermal rating may not change the heat generation process is occurring more often so keep an eye on ship temperatures if you fit several rapid fire pulse weapons.
