Engine Emergency Boost (TAB) not working.

So i got my viper, i outfitted it with a lot of equipment and all (including new thrusters and a better power distrib. unit)

But i realized my power plant was not handling it. So i changed both the power distrib unit and my thrusters. But i cant use the engine boost anymore. Any idea why?

you'll need to open up your modules tab and set your engines to priority 1, if you set your cargo scoop to priority 3 it will free up a whopping 9% of your power supply. Your power distribution thingy improves the recharge rate/effectiveness of the associated systems, but won't actually supply them with more "power" form the power plant.

(make sure you have your shields nd life support at priority one, or you'll have a brown trouser moment when you deploy your weapons)

I can only think of two reasons why "boost" wouldn't work at all...

1. Your landing gear is down. This now disables boost (...not sure if cargo scoop does this too?)
2. Your ENG capacitor is discharged, or is too low for one shot of boost.

How would i charge my engine capacitor? The ENG bar is full, everything else is working fine, but when i press tab it just wont boost, my landing gear is also always up unless i need to land..

Check your keybinding in options -> controls
It might not be [Tab]

If your ENG bar is full and you cannot boost (and you don't have landing gear down), you need a better power distributor because your current one doesn't have a large enough ENG capacitor to support boosting with your current thrusters.

Are you saying that better thrusters NEED a better power distributor?
Any source on that?

I'm saying some size and classes of thrusters need more energy to boost than others, and if your ENG capacity rating of the distributor falls short of what the thrusters need to boost, you will not be able to boost.

A better power distributor is one of the first upgrades you should get.
It is affordable and makes a world of difference.

My power plant does not support a better power distributor. And i cant find a power plant, also the viper has a retardedly low range...

EDIT: just got a new power distributor, pretty good one. Still cant boost..
EDIT 2: so after i died a second time because of the lack of boost, The boost is back to normal.. Thanks for the attention though.

Is your Power Used (may not be correct name, but at the bottom of the Modules screen) at 100% or higher?
(just thinking out loud).

3. The Boost key has somehow become unbound. Check in OPTIONS-> CONTROLS.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. I don't suggest you to try his "solution", however, unless everything else fails for to get boost working again he self-destructed his ship... and got new one with same loadout - which, luckily enough, worked fine.

I have the same boost problem

I am only doing the training, but I cant get boost. I am using whatever ship that is provided. I checked the key binding and even redid it. What do I do?
