Engine Enhancement Synthesis.

It would be helpful as an explorer, whilst traveling to each body in a system if I was able to enhance the engines like we can do with the jump drive using materials. Engines enhanced until a fuel scoop or refuel.

Low engine fuel within a system has never been an issue for me exploring, but admittedly all my exploration ships have all had minimum 32 tons of fuel capacity.

I did recently build an exploration Eagle because I thought it might be fun. But I haven't field tested it yet. I will be launching it from my fleet carrier on my next big journey. I suspect it will have fuel issues in large systems, which will make it a bad practical choice. It won't be my only exploration ship on board.

A long time ago when mapping a planet meant actually flying over every square meter and looking at it to see what was there I had to leave the planet and refuel about 4 or 5 times in my Cobra 3, but mapping an entire planet that way basically took 6 days, so I shouldn't think with todays tools even mapping every planet in a large system should take that much fuel, but will be interested to hear if you do have problems.

I thought OP meant something different but fuel capacity. It is not clearly stated, but based on the common sense it would be enhancing FSD supercruise speed. I might be wrong though. And if I am right I don't think that others agree with the suggestion.

Well it seems to imply fuel capacity when it started discussing refuel and scooping so I took it as that, unless corrected by OP that's what it appears to be to me.

OP wants to suggest, that there should be a fuel injection to speed up the intra-system-cruising.
And the effect keeps active until you jump out of the system or refuel with the fuel scoop.

I think it could be an option for bodies, which are far away in a system, 120k or so... personally I would not really use the optional fuel injection.

Correct. :)
Also to be able to leave surfaces faster. All using materials of course.
