Engineer Advise Needed

Hello All.

Have a few questions about engineers. I have over 400 hours in the game but spent a lot of it exploring.

At present I own a ASP Explorer, a Vulture that is awaiting upgrades to weapons and a Python for mining. I’ve just unlocked Qwent and am wondering how I should approach using him. At current I am there with the ASP which has a 4A power distributor and a 5A Power plant.

I done a lot of mining and a ton of exploring but would like to try dog fighting as the next adventure. What is the best thing to do with Gwent with regards to where I’m at.

Thanks everyone.

Me, I got to g4 by any means possible so I could unlock Palin.

By that point I'd already unlocked the Dweller and Hera Tani so he was just a stepping stone. I'd pin the overcharged powerplant mod, because why not, but that's about it.

Most of the time you can get a very effective build using a g5 armoured powerplant anyway, so Qwent doesn't really offer much.

Professor Palin however... you want that guy. G5 dirty drives are a beautiful thing.

Quint wants modular terminals which are found in mission rewards.
Palin wants sensor fragments found at Thargoid bases using the SRV.

Given fleet carriers some player will sell them for a fortune.

If you’re planning on using any sort of laser or shield build for your combat ship then I’d advise grabbing the Charge Enhanced mod for your Power Distributor.
The faster it can recharge the quicker you can charge shields or the longer you can fire lasers.

And if you don’t need loads of extra power the Armoured mod is quite good for Power Plants.
It helps cool your ship and adds some extra integrity to your Power Plant and still gives a slight power boost.

Armored +monstered powerplant is probably the best overall powerplant mod except for certain extremely power hungry builds. If you go overcharged, you might want the thermal spread experimental. Vulture should be manageable powerwise if you equip a bi weave and one kinetic weapon.
