Engineer Commodities

The problem: The last few nights I've been going between stations, swapping modes, trying to find a mission that gives coolant hoses for my Grade 3 Dirty Drive upgrade. It's not fun.

A possible solution to the "fun": To force us to play the game it may be better if the commodity rewards weren't known. If it just stated "(4) Commodities", then it'd force you to do the missions and play the game. Then at the end it'd say "You recieved X/Y commodities", you'd either get what you wanted or you wouldn't, but at least you'd be playing.
Then to go along with this you could have a choice of 2 or 3 different stacks of commodities, meaning you'd both be playing the game, and feel like you've got a good chance at getting something you need.

As it is now I'm basically not playing Elite because I'm determined to upgrade my engines. It's not fun and it doesn't feel like good design compared to crafting in other games.

I have issue with engineer commodities in general, but I know most people don't mind and I know they aren't going anywhere. We need a solution to stop people from mode switching to get what they want.
