engineer materials no longer needed

Following the last patch, is there an official list of engineer materials that are now no longer needed? Like lots of others, I guess, I could use more storage space for the stuff I know I need.
Read some stuff on the patch post, but it seemed less than definitive - or I just missed it.

I didn't think there were many (if any) changes to the materials required in the last update. If I'm correct, you many be getting materials and commodities changes mixed up.

What I remember was recently changed is that commodities given as mission rewards (ones which were originally used for engineering) were removed from mission rewards. This is because those commodities are no longer required for engineering and haven't been for some time.

I you would like to see what materials are used in what engineering, I suggest using the inara.cz site and/or using the awesome EDEngineer app. Frankly, I can't imagine doing engineering with either or both of these tools.

simply put: any item that used to go in your cargo hold is no longer required for anything Engineering related outside of satisfying the initial demands of the Engineer themselves. They still need their cigars and brandy and modular terminals and whatnot. But no Engineering recipie calls for anything that requires traditional cargo space. Not anymore.

Assuming you're talking about the mission rewards we no longer give out, this is the list as given in the patch notes thread.

Basic Conductors
Crystal Shards
Heat Resistant Ceramics
Unidentified Scan Archives
Tempered Alloys

There are other materials not used in engineering, but they were never given by missions, so they are not included in the changes.

The point in the change was to make all materials/data given as mission rewards useful for something, as they cannot be sold; unlike cargo rewards which can be.

Neat "trick" and I have to do a clean out as I already hit max once and deleted items at random.

Be careful, though.

As far as I've heard, a new round of engineers migth be pending (even in 2.4?). They probably won't use the materials mentioned by Dom.
But personally, I definitely will keep the other, currently unused stuff in my inventory until then!
