Engineer Modules (moving onto another ship)

Let's say that I have 3A Thrusters that I modded at an Engineer, will the game allow me to put it onto another ship?

I'm currently in a situation where I need to change them out to a 2D verison to give me those 2 extra lys on my jump range. I was thinking of putting them onto my Vulture to keep them safe.

Is this possible?

- The method would be to get the 2D Thrusters, then swap my ship to the Vulture and then go back to Buy Back and get the modded 3A Thrusters.

(currently out of the bubble so I cannot check)

it does work 95% of all time. it isn't a supported feature, so if you loose connection during this process and you are transferred to a new instance, moduls will be gone from buyback-options. i have "lost" modded thrusters in that way, so i know what i talk about - i gained a new access level, and thought: why to overwrite it, my mining ship has use for those! in the middle of transferring process, crash to desktop, no connection to internet from my side, needed to restart the pc, got new instance, modul gone. if it would have been a modul i really wanted to keep, i would have been rather mad.

if you attempt doing it:

- make sure you have a stable internet connection

- the ship you want to transfer the modul to should not have the same basic modul equipped - the game has problems to differentiate between a-class modded an unmodded thrusters in the buy back option for exampel.

- you have around 11 minutes for the whole process ("market refresh")

- sell moduls, switch ship, buy moduls back.

i have transferred around 12 moduls in that way, but, as said above, with 1 "severe" failure.

supported modul storage/swapping is planned for an upcoming update. till then, if something happens, support won't give you your engineered modul back.

___

btw.: vulture can't equip those thrusters ;-)

I found my way back to Garay Terminal at Deciat. I switched to my Vulture then realised and panicked and quickly looked through the shipyard to find a ship that could hold 3A Thrusters. The Cobra MKIII saved me! I had to decrease the mass first though. Oh well, the modded module is safe now.

+ I'd be really sad if I lost it like what happened to you. Can't wait for swapping modules in the future though! little things are awesome. I'm sure everyone wants a place at a starport that they can store items, modules in.
