Engineer reset

Oh joy, all the time I spent levelling engineers to level 5 was for nothing. Got to restart at level 1 and work my way back up. Not like I had anything else to do.

Your level with the engineer should be the same, you have to level each module now, for each ship.

I was able to engineer a level 5 module at level 5 but when I bought a new ship I had to start that module t level one. It only took 2 goes at each level to reach the next level but you go through a lot of materials, I guess that's the trade off of a guaranteed better roll.

lol, have you been under a rock? Every module takes several rolls at each level incrementing the stats of the module in a linear way until you reach the G5 cap and you know that nobody else is better equipped. Existing engineered modules lose a grade when you re-engineer them, then you can roll to the top again. All existing modules should be untouched.

Your old level 5 is not going to be as good as the new level-5, see no issues with having to do some extra rolls to get back to 5. End of the day you are going to see nice improvements for little effort. You can always stick with what you have.

Only means I've wasted all the materials, time etc levelling all but three engineers to level 5. it's not like I have anything else to do in my life.

Just give it time and play the game, a lot has changed, easier to get materials, easier to level up and we have a broker. Whats the rush? Just enjoy the ride, unless you are one of those insane PvP guys that must have da best to stay alive.. Your G5 modules still work the same as they did 24 hours ago.

Alas much easier to just give up until someone at FD realises they've cocked up.

Look on the bright side though, now you get to level from 1 to 5 every single time you roll another mod. Yeah, even if you're rolling three shield boosters on the same ship one after the other, first booster from grade 1 to grade 5, then your second booster from grade 1 to grade 5, then your third booster from grade 1 to grade 5.

Oh wait, that's not the bright side is it. Damn.

Not really, but I appreciate the giggle :) .

Your loss mate, the rest of us will get on with it. I wasn't a big fan of the old system, I was easily converting all my modules and surpassing the old G5 limits using the new system.

I don't know about everybody else, but I certainly got me some serious space wood when I opened my materials tab and saw the increased storage capacity. When I saw the doubled module storage, things almost got messy.

They're having a sale on more shelving for the extra space at Jameson. Clean that mess up a bit ;)

The Bad Design is dead, all hail the Bad Design

I am one of those PvP guys that is seriously motivated to have the best modules, but I totally agree with you; just enjoy the ride. A quick look in the missions tab shows that amounts of materials given for rewards has been improved, and the fact that we no longer have to either kick out or pass stuff by means obtaining materials will be far easier than before. And with guaranteed outcomes at the engineers themselves, things will be much better overall.

I certainly don't mind sacrificing some of my time for a more enjoyable, fairer new system.

That'll teach me not to read patch notes.

'Higher reputation with an Engineer will increase the speed you'll progress through the lower grades'

Now I understand a little better. Still don't like it, but I understand it :).

Heading off to the attacked station in Bhal to load up on mats.... then to the broker to trade what I need, then to the Engineer to get me some sweet sweet upgrades :)

There are a lot of pros to the new system, but there are also a few major cons too. Actually just one major con, that new grade grind. Will it balance out in the end? We'll find out firsthand now I suppose. Guaranteed improvements with each roll is super nice though, even if it takes more time and mats to get there.
