I think in the gaming industry people regularly see game development companies as a single, non-human entity, and tends to react to development decisions as such. It seems like E
has seen its share of flaming reactions from its users and as a [non-game] software engineer myself I would imagine it is tough to read such public, unrestrained commentary. After seeing Sarah's post in showthread.php?t=91397&page=45&p=1532456#post1532456 (sorry, new member, can't post links yet) my thoughts went like this:
developer, what components they work on, non-work stuff like their hobbies, etc. On a personal level I'd love to know more about these guys (and gals)! It would also help humanize the end result of all the decisions and engineering that goes into the game.
- Hooray!
- Oh, look, a female engineer. You don't see those that often.
- I wonder what decisions are being made here and how this will be fixed (curiosity, not disdain or distrust).
