Engineering Increased Intake Fuel Scoops

Dear Fdev,

Please consider engineer upgrades for increasing the intake of Fuel Scoops as it would be an awesome addition for explorers as well as for folks trying to reserve higher class slots for cargo.

Maybe 10% (grade 1) through a 50% increase (grade 5) with increasing penalties for boot time, power draw, and integrity.

I think that only those people have a need for that, who use an DBX as explorer ship :rolleyes:
Everyone else takes just one class higher and is perfectly happy with the max fuelscoop :D

Well for Weight wise it might be a good idea. If an Anaconda that has smaller fuel scoop might be able to hold more passengers, Cargo or other things. Or just make longer jump range.
 
I would like to see engineering for fuelscoops (if we can't get a complete redesign of the scooping system, at least, turning it into a minigame or something - maybe interdiction-ish, trying to stay in the bluezone of heat vs scoop time, with penalties for failure), but it would feel weird with them being mass-less and all. It would just be a free buff, basically - I honestly don't see how power draw, integrity, or boot time matters for a scoop.

So I think the only time this should be done is if scoops get mass, and engineering your scoop adds a considerable amount of mass to it. Then it's a meaningful trade off.
 
Fuel Scope stats that could be altered currently are only
Rate
Power draw
integrity

Shielded currently increases integrity in exchange for power draw

I could see Rate in exchange for power draw but that's pretty much what the grades of the Fuel Scoop do currently.
Each grade E-A increases power draw and Rate of kg/s

I agree with the above about adding mass in exchange for increase Rate, then it would fall inline with the sensor packages.
And would add more engineer options for the fuel scoop if mass was a factor.

I could see basic engineer modifications such as follows
1: Reduce Power Draw / Decrease integrity
2: Increase Rate / Reduce Heat dissipation
3: Increase heat dissipation during scoop process / increase Power Draw

Some extra ideas for the Fuel Scoop Special Effects
1: Fuel scoops has an increase Rate For Star Class KGB but reduce Rate for Star Class FOAM (or some mix in between)
2: Ability to scoop from non scoop-able star classes at a reduced rate with the penalty of increase Power Draw
3: Fuel synthesis module allows combination of (insert materials here) to add 1 ton of fuel.
