Engineering Materials Made Easy

So, Um, I started just after Horizons went Retail. The only reason Im saying that is because I was around when gathering matl's for Engineering was a real experience. [yesnod]
With this new patch and my re-entry into the game, I am pleased to say that the learning curve to find and use the new Tech/Material/Encoded merchants, was an easy thing. Just go to INARA.cz , a website, and then just click on systems and stations/nearest, then click on Material Trader. The default is Sol, but you can input the closest system of your choice on the right side of the page. So easy now. Of course you still need to have some materials <cough> to trade with but its a very convenient solution when you are just low one one item to just port over to the closest system and pick some up.

While this may be old news to many of you Commanders out there, some of the newer ones may benefit.

Oh, and thanks to you DEVS at FD for thinking of us poor space addicts and having some mercy.

If you use the ED Market Connector, then it will update your Inara profile for you, and you only have to search for stuff near you. Inara will do the rest.

And since you are talking mats, check out ED Engineering addon. helps you with your mats and how many tries you can have at which Engineer, where to find them, etc.

Imagine if FDev provided the needed tools in-game so everyone didn't have to alt+tab to their browser to complete in-game tasks . . .

Yes, imagine that UI - just imagine inara, eddb, edsm, edengineering, eddiscovery, imagine them all crammed into that UI ....

If only there were some way they could simplify it. Perhaps by not having 3 separate currencies, each with 5-10 sub-currencies, and each of those having 4-5 sub-sub currencies. Over 100 currencies with very little sensible rhyme or reason to how to gather them - or even naming conventions (e.g. "Precipitated Alloys" not actually being in the "alloy" sub currency category, but instead "thermic").

Overwrought GUIs are sometimes a symptom of an overly complex model underneath - I consider this the case here.

Yeah . . . imagine cramming a handful of simple query tasks into the game the tasks are required for. Insanity, I say! Insanity!
