Engineers Engineering Mods For Pack Hounds?

I'm due to get pack hounds from Li Yong-Rui soon, so I have been wondering what engineering mods I should put on them.

I will probably try putting 2 launchers on my FDL and I was thinking of a combination of the high capacity mod with overload munitions to make them more effective against shields. But I don't really know what I'm doing, I've never modded missile launchers before.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? What modifications on Pack Hounds would you recommend?
 
imho they're best used for utility. Extra ammo mixed with drag mod. They'll be most effective on whatever modules exposed without the luxury of cherry picking them. (disabling weapons and utility slots) Combining this with the drag can really change the odds and handicap your adversary's mobility if you get the debuff at the right time.

As a main damage source they're just not worth it in terms of sustainability over other weapons.

Thanks! I'll take a look at drag munitions, not something I've used before. I'm looking at ways to combat hull-tanked FAS (my nemesis) in my FDL, along with silent running ships in general.

Are you guys gonna enjoy using these Hounds!!!
Agree with above on damage, but i never tire of firing these off at my target!

They are very pretty aren't they!
 
Well, I've been pledged for nearly a month so I'm determined to do something with them!

Oh you will totally love them for ages, fear not.

I had 3 on my Vette and would just triple spam them and cook the old girl. So worth it for the visuals.

I have several in module storage after spending time with Li just to get them. The only two ships I have them mounted on are my Cutter and my Python.

The Python is currently using two Packhounds with G5 Sturdy mods - to cut down on heat and (not sure if it matters) increase armor piercing. I just modded a replacement pair for it yesterday - still G5 Sturdy, but this time with drag munitions.

The combination of having 2 large G5 Efficient Beams Lasers (with Thermal vent now), 1 large MC (still G5 efficient, may change to G5 overcharge with autoloader), and the two packhounds means I can take on anything that dares bother me while doing mission running.

I decided to add the drag mod because I have a couple of ships - last was an Elite Clipper - get away before I can finish them off. The packhounds are a really fun way to blow the crap out of these nuisances who interrupt my mission runs. :D

they work pretty good on ships with SLFs. Let the SLF knockdown the shields and then let them fly. I have three on my T9 it has no heat issues spamming all three of them repeatedly.

I havent modded them yet too lazy to go get 100k combat bounds since I mostly trade. But I'm working on it I just unlocked Selena last night so the missile/mine guy is next on the todo list.

I actually originally got them to try and load up a gunship with them just for grins to see if I could do a Macross missile type thing way back before fighters even came out. :D Had like 8 in storage on a bunch of Cobras before they added storage.

I'm actually just starting to work on getting cryptoscramblers so I can knock down shields with smaller lasers to go with them.

then you dont use enough packhounds!

Was using them last night on my heavy trader Cutter as a finisher and they were doing the job well in fairness.


I think i shelved them back when i discovered G5 double shot frags with screening shell. Now those things are barking !
 
These are fun

Got 4 with increased ammo on my FGS, Large rapid fire PA with Plasma Slug, two small MC with Corrosive, and SLF, this thing Rocks took out FDLs in a Haz RES with ease I love the pyrotechnics!
 
Do you have any heat issues when firing them simultaneously? Do you use any experimental effects in particular?

Haven't noticed heat other than it's better than running 1L plus 2M (efficient) PA's, if I get a chance tonight I'll upload a video.

Got a Drag Munitions special on one which had the best RNG of all my rolls so kept it, didn't bother 'adjusting' any of the others.
