Ship Builds & Load Outs Engineering the Viper MK4

My MK4 is my baby. I have the most fun with it even with it's limitations. My question is how good a combat ship can this be with engineering? I use gimballed lasers and multi's. Where should I begin with engineering?

The best place to start engineering is the FSD as increased range (Farseer) will make unlocking engineers and collecting mats a lot easier, next would be the thrusters (a good grade 3 from Farseer will make a lot of difference).

The Viper 4 has the same power dist as the the Viper 3 so this will limit weapons somewhat, to maximise firing time mod the lasers with efficient upgrades and overcharged/rapid fire on the multi's, armour and shields always need some upgrades usually heavy duty and thermal resistant, bulkheads mil grade if you're armouring up stock if you're going lightweight.

How much more maneuverable will it be with modded thrusters? I have also been using pulse lasers as the beams suck the power down and seem less efficient at range. With modded beams will I be able to fire more than 4 or 5 seconds or should I look to mod the pulses?

Looking at the profiles tab in Coriolis the pitch rate increases by around 25% (D to A grade thrusters is around 9%) so it's going to be noticeable along with a speed increase of over 30%, the TTD (time to drain) in Coriolis refers to how the weapons can fire before draining the weapon capacitor in the power distributor (@ 4 pips), 35 seconds is a decent amount of time and it'll be even longer if you use the beams to kill the shield and the MC's for the hull.

Weapons are really down to what you like using, I use class 1 pulse turrets and gimbaled class 2 pulse in the medium hard points, the turrets help with the Vipers lowish pitch rate as even engineered it's not going to be up to Vulture levels of agility, add some armour, HRP's and MRP's and it'll be a real tough ship.

Can anyone take a look at my lightly engineered ship and comment?

I love using Viper MK4 to do light exploration (gathering materials) and some combat while keeping the rebuy cost low.

I'm still new to this game and practicing combat with FA off/on. Decided to stick with gimballed weapons to focus on maneuvering, like keeping a distance from a target and move away from opponent's firing arc.
