Engineers 3.0 : Someone has something nice to say

Not a big post, just this: The Beta 2 update has just indicated that pinned blueprints will be able to progress through Grade 1-5.

Anyone else just pinning FSD or dirty drives for the rest of their time in game?

So many ships that I was too lazy to modify with these very basic of things. Thank you FDev.

You have to personally visit the base in order to apply experimentals, so I am not going to bank on using the remote engineering feature much.

That's true, but you only need a single "roll" to apply experimentals and I won't be applying them in most of my modules.

I think it's a nice change. Not perfect but an improvement.

Yes!

By pinning the FSD, you can at least get to engineers for the rest ;)

YES!

You get 1 pin per engineer, so you can pin FSD AND DD

I'm too excited to type anymore

Are we able to pin any blueprint we have unlocked at any time or do we have to go to the engineer every time to pin a new one?

You will need to go to an engineer to pin one, otherwise there wouldn't be any point in pinning them if technically they where all open for you to use.

Yup, that's a lifesaver and definitely makes the Remote Workshops (and any surrounding Material/Data Traders) worthwhile :)

I believe you could go to Farseer and apply the experimental to the engines. Still way better than having to go all the way to Palin.

Makes sense. The local hired maintenance technicians can do the upgrades based on the blueprints without having to fully understand or invent how it works.

Just this... Without the experimental effects your FSD will only be able to get to a 50% mod instead of 55-56%. Same goes for the others. If you want over maxed modules you just have to tout around the lot of them! So the pinned blueprints are pretty pointless, at least to me.

Yeh, I have to say it sounds like they've pretty much cracked it (no CIF pun intended), well done FD.

Gathering will be sorted in Q4, things are looking decent.

8 jumps in your JumpaConda to Palin's base, transfer thruster module, fit to JumpaConda, have it modded by Palin, store it, 8j back to Jameson's (or wherever you prefer to live), transfer module back, fit to intended ship... Easy

Except MEF appears to be Unobtainium or at least, very hard to get, in the Beta. In 2.4 every other mission is for some MEF, seems that Well has been well and truly nerfed by FDev in 3.0. Hence, obtaining data (Read CIF) is going to be a pain in the butt.

I initially thought it would be cool, as MEF can be downgraded to CIF at a 1:9 ratio, but obtaining MEF looks like it's going to be a whole heap harder in 3.0!!!

Stock up folks... Before it goes live!

Maybe, but let me tell you what I'm thinking and if you think I'm wrong, feel free to say so...

My main CIF gathering activity is medium sec base runs. The average Base will give you: 1 CIF (so three for every three bases you visit), 2 MEF, and 6 random other G2 or G3 data minimum. After a base run of 20ish bases in live, I have about 25 CIF and 40ish MEF. MEF to the next data is 3 to 1, and 3 to one again down to CIF, so if the base run rewards haven't been adjusted, that's HUNDREDS of CIF per run (and plenty of MEF if that's what you're looking for (overcharged weapons)).

I'm not in beta, so if you want to try a few bases, give me a shout and I'll post you a list of ones near Sol.

People just can't be happy with anything. If FDev add something QoL improvement, some one come and tell you it's pointless, useless...
What you described takes 2,5 Hour: First not everyone have JumpaConda (I have 2 Conda, none of them exploration), but 8 jump to Palin ~15 min, transfer drive ~1 Hour, engineer then ~15 min back, call back your drive= another 1 Hour waiting. (btw it's easier if you put the engine on the Conda and fly with there and back)

With the new system, i buy my new Chieftain/Type 9, fly to Farseer, pin blueprint, fly to nearest Station remote engineer to G5 Dirty, fly back to Farseer for experimental, if really need (not for a trader). My ship is ready with G5 and happily flying to the next engineer or to my business, when you just en route back to home(or even just waiting for the module), and still an Hour to call back your module! But yes, I am sure it pointless. (and you really want to transfer a module to Palin and back? Seriously? That's 2 hour waiting from around Sol, even faster to go out with a low jump range ship)
