Engineers - 5+ levels of grind...When is grind too much

I like the new system. Not saying you should too but I'm fine with it. Didn't mind the old system either, I didn't grind it or anything just used it as a pointer to content and took my time. I got a few nice upgrades and I think the new system will be more rewarding

The OP has mistaken game play for grind (unwanted tasks). Everything he listed is fun and fails within the intended game play. Perhaps the OP thinks that only killing other players is fun and everything else is grind. But I can't image anyone would be THAT shallow. 😁

Just because one can agree on the proper label for an issue, doesn't make it a bad thing. Having something you have to put time into, isn't a bad thing. It asks you to prioritize your goals, and consider your investment. I am not ready to judge things poorly, just because you can't finish it up in one sitting. Splitting hairs over the mechanic that asks for your time is pointless. The single commodity a Commander has for progression and achievement in E|D is Time. And, I should hope it stays that way.

The only real issue with time gating is whether the activity is fun or not. If it's fun no-one minds. It's when it's like "listen to elevator music for 6 days 4 reward" that people start to...ahh...get annoyed.

The amount of pure GRIND for engineering is kind of sick.

- Do X to Unlock engineer
- Do Y for the engineer to prove you are worth talking to.
- Now grind for Z materials
- Use Z materials to increase engineer level
- Grind more materials to have materials to have high level engineering.
- Unlocks higher rated engineer....
- See point 1

That does not take the TIME required to find certain items or unlock certain engineers or the required gear at times.
Yeah, it's disgusting. I made several posts on the beta forums about it through out the beta stages, white knights drowned it out of course.

I'm sure I've seen a similar thread to this, once before. Mods? Would you check the archives for me?

See above. Since the beta forums are locked now, this thread is perfectly reasonable.

Fun = Subjective.

Meh, someone's going to be cranky....

Ah yes, ‘white knight’ label: so some one disagreed with your point of view and you got all upset about it.
