Engineers Engineers and play your own way

Maintain the current unlocking process between engineers but;

You simply present to the Engineer with cold hard in game cash. You pay 100 million just to enter the workshop and its pay per module from there. It wont be cheap as you can imagine.

The special effect? The FD store has that for you. And again, its not cheap.

This way, you genuinely can play and earn this cash your own way and in your own time as you see fit.

The special effects affords a special bonus for both you and the hard working dev crew.

He'll No. We already paid for the Engineers content when we bought season 2. What we would like now is to be able to get some use out of the Engineers. If someone has to spend 6-10 hours working on gathering materials for a single upgrade then he needs to be guaranteed that it will result in a good upgrade. Anywhere between 5 and 25%, like it is now, is not an acceptable outcome based on the time invested.

Haven't you heard? His shieldless gold Anaconda has all undersize E modules, no hardpoints, and it's parked up, as he doesn't have the rebuy insurance. :p

But seriously, the Devs had a meta-objective in the gameplay: to disincentivize repetitive credit earning, and encourage people into more varied activities. Hence, materials drop from mining, piracy, bounty-hunting, base assaults, ground prospecting, and missions - the bag's as mixed as they could make it. It's not a bad idea, but we got a whole new kind of grind. Not the good Starbucks kind either.

Happily playing my own way and doing a little side work toward getting some new goodies along the way.
Not being forced or, better yet and the key to this problem, Not Forcing Myself.

Having a great time, wish you were here. :D

lol we already have that and mos tof us have Money beyond the moon how boaring of an idea is this to just make it all Money based?!?!

You are not really creative! We needed another curreny and the update did a fantastic Job to offer something different!

I would rather keep the Engineers mechanic as it is but have the special effects purchasable with in-game credits

The problem is the engineers force people who want to do one thing into doing something completely the opposite that they most likely will not enjoy. Want to upgrade your weapons and keep on bounty hunting? Too bad. You cant until you spend hours exploring and driving the SRV on empty planets.
Meanwhile the NPCs have been given engineer upgrades, better AI, and all other sorts of advantages over us.

Every single material is available through missions, you don't have to do every single activity in the game to get them if you don't want to, but at least you have the option of switching jobs every now and again as you please. I would be terribly disappointed if everything was just replaced by credits, which basically would just make it all another perpetual grind doing whatever it is you do that makes you the most credits. I already did that for the base ship and modules.

The Lavian Brandy thing is still total          though.

Except that the missions that yield polonium and yttrium as rewards almost never come up. Not for lack of rank either. Dangerous combat, Tycoon trade.
There should have a way to exchange the materials that drop from killing ships into the materials you find on planets and vice versa. Once I am done upgrading my corvette's FSD I am never setting foot into an SRV again. I am really starting to hate driving that SRV.

no pay to win, never, thanks.

but yes, I'd love to have other way to gain engineers upgrades, I don't care if it's hard or long, but please not another RNG on top of RNG mechanism...

That's a lazy or stupid way to fix a problem, they should just have prevented the depreciation of the current currency instead of having to create a new one.

What if they rush the storage system under our pressure now ? Are we going to need yet another currency in the next patch once most of us will "have material beyond the moon" ?

I was expecting new mechanism with engineer's loot and craft, instead of that it use the same old stuff (destroy ships in RES, CZ or interdict them / mining / SRV collecting / scanning / missions from A to B, kill X, get this) and the only new stuff is that we get 2 different currency as a reward, one being mostly RNG based. And THAT is boring.
