Engineers Engineers and Thargoids (opinion)

I think that the engineers update is part of a much larger plan. What if we now have to possibility to upgrade our ships combat wise to have a chance fighting the thargoids, maybe they are too powerful for ships without engineers modifications. Just a thought I had.
