There are few ways to get said Data. As you probably know - it is needed for G5 FSD upgrade. Most standard way is to mount Wake Scanner and scan ships jumping out of station but that can get boring and often you will see Wakes spawning at ~15km distance. These method's below are meant to give you a lot more in no time ;)

Method #1

You will need: wake scanner, system with "Famine" status active (always check system map to be sure if it's really in famine)

Instructions:

  1. Search for persistent signal "Distribution Centre"
  2. Jump in there
  3. Wait for Sidewinders to jump out and scan all Wakes
  4. After a while another batch of Sidewinders should jump in and jump out again
  5. Repeat 3-4 as long as you wish


Method #2
This method will give you a lot more of precious materials

You will need: system with "Boom" status (again check system map to be sure)

Instructions:

  1. Being in SC in said system search for Encoded Emissions USS's
  2. Jump in one
  3. Scan Data Core of the destroyed ship
  4. [OPTIONAL] Collect materials floating around
  5. Engage SC
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 as long as you wish
  7. ???
  8. PROFIT

I know this thread is old, but the OP deserves credit where credit is due. The famine state method works very well.

Thank you OP, for saving me god knows how many hours of hair-pulling boredom.

Method 1 works like a charm (barely can keep up scanning). Great advice, thanks a lot!

Thx very helpfull method 1, I've been looking for DWE for a while and finally I got a few of them. Also this methos is nice to scan any wake FSD signal.
