Engineers Engineers great ..but..

I love the Engineers added to the game, it's a really good addition but I have one complaint/moan/etc

The mods atm seem to be combat focused, which is okay, but some of us don't do combat much.
Can we please have some mining mods? How about mods for the refinery which make it more efficient and make more metals from the ore.

Even if such a thing was really hard to get the materials for, it would give us miners something cool to aim for, even if it took months.

I don't think it's too combat focused since you get tons of entirely neutral, defensive and jump range oriented upgrades.
(shields, shield boosters, shield cells, power plants, distributors, thrusters, fsd, cargo racks, mines, reinforcements, ...)

That said I do want some limpet and mining laser modifications. The refinery seems fine for now.

Speaking of mining, instead of mods to make mining better - how about just fixing mining all the way instead of partial?

Just tried mining a bit after returning with 2.1, and seems like the usual known issues still there (e.g. the constant supervision needed on hopper/refinery, etc)

Nah they automated the refinery a while ago, you only have to micromanage it if all the bins get full and your trying to load something that isn't already in one, they did just make painite/platinum harder to find and collectors slower though, which is yet another nerf to the borderline worst profession lol :p

I love this idea, and you know they are planning on doing it, if the engineers are a success they are planning on rolling loads more modifications out. I'm sure it was mentioned during one of the run up to beta streams when they were asked about more mods, sorry for no specific source.

I also have other ideas, like mods for the fuel scoops so they don't create as much heat or they scoop more. Or imagine having a multi-purpose limpet controller which has alot more mass and power consuption (for balence) you could even mod things like the lighting systems on ships, or create lights for utility points for use with night mining. Lastly what about sensor modifications for specific uses such as Mining sensors which highlight asteroids a lot easier... I'll shut up now but you get the picture the list for engineers could be endless! :)

really. I'm the only one that would like that? hmmmmm okay :/

Did they release a comprehensive list of all the engineers added? I agree with you but maybe it wasn't found yet?

My unimportant opinion is there should be an engineer available for every module in the game. Mining/explorers/traders included! How about one for traders.... who can up your storage or 'profits' because I.... I don't know... insert RP here. :)

It would be ridiculous to gate a basic one like that off in a way that it hasn't been found yet.

So far I think 15 have been found and I expect another 15 to come around with the next upgrade.

Agree, there are a lot of mods that passively assist mining. FSD boost, increased distributor recharge, shielded/sturdy upgrades and thruster upgrades.

But they seem to be mostly conceived for combat oriented situations. I faintly remember MB or some other dev mention that upgrades would be coming to more modules in the future.

Sorry, but mods that require mats that I need to go to a planet surface and drive around aimlessly for hours to find are not combat focused. They might support a combat ship, as they support every ship, but combat focused they are not.
