Engineers Engineers materials in 1.6 question

Hey community,

I'm one of those plebs still playing 1.6 and i'm somewhat puzzled on the grand idea surrounding The Engineers.
It's seems The Engineers are only available in 2.1, however you may correct me if i'm wrong. Still i'm collecting Engineers scan data and loot materials that are used by The Engineers filling up the material space.
When the material storage is full my collector limpets seem to halt on standby with the message that the storage is full and are just sitting there while they need to collect the minerals during mining.
The limpets seem to be going to the closest pieces and it seems there's not really any management possible there. Also here correct me if i'm wrong.

So are The Engineers coming to 1.6 too at some point or are the ships a copy pasta from 2.1 and The Engineers are never coming to 1.6? I'm sort of puzzled why all the mechanics are in place, but there's no way to use them in any way like selling them somehow to the 2.1 master race that can use and abuse the materials and scan data.

Thank you for any response that clarifies these issues to me. There might be answers somewhere already, however i seem to have a hard time finding it.

Engineers will not be coming to 1.6. They are only available with Horizons as you need to land on planets

Are you considering purchasing 2.1?
There is a lot of negative posts on engineers, but personally I think its a great update. I think people are just too much of a hurry to get the maximum upgrades as fast as possible

As said above engineers is horizons content only.

If you materials storage is full, go on and delete some if its preventing mi ing collecting! Especially if you're not planning on getting horizons so have no use for them.

They should really fix limpets to go on collecting cargo items like minerals if the materials storage is full.
I guess that it must be a bit taunting for a 1.6 player to have materials interfere with their normal gameplay.

...Especially if you're not planning on getting horizons so have no use for them...

You can use the ones you have in 1.6 - for synthesis but not for crafting.
If you are full just delete some, especially the ones that are not used for synthesis.
