Engineers ENGINEERS question - Lvl 1 Upgrade, delete it, then Lvl 5 - Max Effects???

A bit cryptic.

But:

If you modified your Multicannons with level 1 already and you want to upgrade them to Level 5, is it enough to "delete" the Level 1 upgrade to get the max (fresh and thus best shot) Level 5 upgrade or is it better to buy a new one?

i heard a lot of times that if you upgrade new items, you get the best shot compared to already lvl 1 or 2 or 3 upgraded ones. So, from 0 to 5 is better than 1 to 5 for example.

Each roll is unique and wipes out your old stats. Just roll level 5, no need to delete the level 1 upgrade or to buy a new weapon.

In my experience it makes absolutely no difference, Rng is Rng, you don't even have to delete. Some people feel that it does but never has any evidence been shown other than someones feelings. For the record, i have done a lot of mods, more than i care to remember.....

This is some superstition that a clean mod gets a better result but i dont buy it! However, if you have a good L1 mod, you may wish to keep it if you hVe another ship in your fleet that can use it
