Engineers Engineers vs Guardian Tech

Im going to assume that its one or the other
Are there areas where one is stronger than the other?
Or like most things, the new way eclipses the old?

Highly engineered modules are usually superior in almost every aspect.

Guardian modules are readily available, though... just buy the module and be done with it.

The Guardian PD can add 4% to the power plant output useful on under powered ships (either using synergistic fusion enhancement or magic (AKA handwavium!))

The FSD boosters and the shield enhancement packages are essential unlocks though

Guardian modules are like a sort of grade 4 engineered modules, with more heat and weight. So, when you can choose, a grade 5 engineered module is better than the Guardian counterpart.

Anyway, it is true that combining a Guardian Power Plant with a Guardian Power Distributor also gives 4% more output. Also there are unique Guardian modules that are nice to have: the FSD Booster, the Shield Reinforcement, the Module Reinforcement (better than the human counterpart, but requires power).

It would be nice at some point to be able to engineer the Guardian modules. It was tried at some point, but the results were so spectacular, so Frontier reversed that after a short time (or it was a bug allowing the modules to be engineered in the first place, I don't remember exactly).

It was a bug my friend

As has been said the guardian modules are typically not quite as good as G5 but a max range engineered FSD with a guardian booster gives NICE range.

FSD booster and SRP don't have human analogues. Unlock these as soon as you can, they're basically must have, especially FSD booster.

Guardian PP and PD are bad pre-3.0 rolls of overcharged PP and charge-enhanced PD. You can use them if you can't get the proper stuff right away, but as soon as you can, dump them and never come back.

Guardian HRP is somewhat useful if you actively fight Thargoids. Install the smallest one for a bit of caustic resistance.

Guardian MRP is slightly better than human's in terms of integrity, but it comes at price of energy consumption. If you have spare energy, go for it. If you haven't, don't.

Guardian weapons are must have for fighting against Thargoid Interceptors. If you're not interested, don't bother.

Guardian fighters are nice, but kinda useless against human ships. Also, they look really cool. You can unlock the Trident - it is slightly less useless than others, however proper fighters like plasma-wielding GU-97 or MC-Condor would mop the floor with it.
