Engineers Enhanced Performance Thrusters Question

Sorry if this is already posted here somewhere.

Ive been flying my Viper a lot lately as I figured it was time to get more comfortable with FA-off maneuvers. Also I still find the Viper loads of fun, so I decided to finally fully A-rate it. I made the trek to Farseer Inc and installed the 3a enhanced thrusters today. Yikes, 5 million creds lol. Anyway, my question is, has anyone noticed a huge outfitting discrepancy between Coriolis IO and actual in-game power requirements? According to Coriolis, the new thrusters should be using 25% of available power, but my Viper says it's actually 40%. I can make it work, but 15% is a big hit. Actually more tedious power management required than with my power hog of a Vulture.

Proper size and grade power plant?

Yes, everything a-rated with the exception of sensors and k-w scanner. Coriolis says I should be well under even with hard points deployed but I have to set my FSD to go offline when I deploy the hard points. It works, but the numbers are way off.

I couldn't make a viper light enough to actually get any benefit from the High Performance Thrusters. Had to switch to an Imperial Courier. The hull is a lot lighter which makes it easier to get down to 90 tons.

My iCourier does 475 m/s and 650 m/s Boost without cargo. And its not even on grade 3 upgrade. It weights 70.4 tons - with only one class 1 pulse laser. No-ones gonna get me :D

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. Guess I better take a hard look at how much speed I gained by this. Might have to go back to the standard 3a's. I can always find something else to do with 5 million creds, iCourier maybe :)

Follow-up-

Sure enough, the speed gain from the enhanced thrusters is negligible in the Viper. Went back to my 3a's and did away with my power management problems. Kinda sad really as that was the only Engineers feature I was looking forward to using. I'm not entering the grind until they implement some type of storage system. Maybe spend my time gaining some Empire rank and get a Courier. Anyway, thanks again terrycloth for the info.
