Enhanced Thrusters at Deciat

Is there a restriction on obtaining the Advanced thrusters?

I was under the impression that for the thrusters (and the CR racks, and the 1A shield) all that's required is the invite so you can land at the engineer's base.

Given that Farseer is one of the "tier 1" engineers, don't people immediately have access to her base and, thus, the ability to buy the thrusters?

So after some contradictory info I figured it would be easier to just go and look.

As long as you can land at the base, you can access the outfiiting screen and buy Enhanced Thrusters.

Which was exactly the same conclusion I came to in my thread as well :)

A Sidewinder with enhanced thrusters is an awesome ship. I used one (and nothing else) to get triple Elite. It's a really enjoyable ship to fly. If you engineer the thrusters to level 5 dirty, the SW can do 625 m/s with weapons. The PvP battleships, can't get near it. That's if they can see it!

The extra speed has many benefits:
It gets you in an out of the station without getting scanned, so smuggling and other illicit things becomes easy;
You can escape from any NPC, when interdicted, without them being able to land a shot, so you can go shieldless;
You can escape from the RES when you mess up and become wanted. You're gone before they get a chance to turn on you;
PvP becomes viable;
Etc.

Felicity is the easiest engineer to unlock and she will also give you level 3 dirty drives modification if you collect the right materials, so anybody using a small ship should go immediately to her to get these thrusters and modifications. It will make you ship so much more fun to use.

Don't go to the base unless you have the invite, otherwise you will be marked hostile and they'll blow you up when you get close.

You get the invitation, in the form of a message in your COMMS inbox when you have completed the access requirement. In the case of Felicity Farseer that is when you reach "Scout" exploration RANK. Once you receive the invitation, THEN you need to provide the unlock "bribe". Using the example of Felicity Farseer again, this is in the form of supplying her with a single unit of meta-alloy.

Then, on top of all that you will need to collect the various resources (materials/data) necessary for completing the recipe for each modification. You can find recipes for all modifications in the Engineers section of the INARA website.

There are usually 5 grades of modifications but most engineers do not supply all 5 grades of the mods they offer for example, Felicity Farseer provides all 5 grades of Extended Range FSD module modifications but only up to grade 3 of thruster, sensor and detailed surface scanner mods and only offers grade 1 modification of shield booster, FSD interdictor and power plant mods.

You DO NOT need to provide the meta alloys to gain access to the Enhanced Thrusters.
