Hi there! Congratulations to all you lucky writers and pledgers. Its an awesome prospect having so much rich new Elite fiction to thumb through in coming months and years. I arrived too late to pitch my own piece so I am thoroughly jelly of the lot of you!
I'm wondering though, will there be some sort of homogenization process for canon or is each piece to be construed as a fan creation made real and not indicative of or formally considered canon in the event of a conflict? I note other publishing groups, where a central intellectual property is plumbed as a resource for ripping new yarns, have a very solid committee based vetting process where authors work closely with each other; attending regular meetings, discussions and 'consistency' plotting with their commissioning editors often negotiating canon deviations and additions in fine detail prior to even putting index finger to key board. Black library, Wizards of the Coast, tv spin offs etc. all operate in this fashion.
Will there be a similar oversight in the four(?) successfully commissioned publications forthcoming to avoid any hilarious or unfortunate gaffes? Or will it just be a loosely affiliated set of science-fantasy within itself with no particular allusions or ties to the 'official' Elite, Frontier and First Encounters canon? Such as it is ..
