Epic and Steam installation - Still in doubt

Hi all.
I have read Frontiers help section about installing ED from the Epic app, but it's still unclear to me what happens, if I allready have an existing installed version of ED in my Steam library.
Will two installations of the same game "collide", when you have separate Frontier accounts with different e-mails ?
Or will there still only be one installation of the game, with two separate Frontier logins ?

Epic states very clearly, that you must install from the Epic library, and only start the game from the Epic launcher. So it must be installed in another directory than the Steam version.

I think Frontier is unclear about the matter - Or maybe I just don't understand what they're saying...

Yes, it needs to be installed separately.

If you just go through it by default, you will end up with two installations of the entire game.

At the very least, you do need to have the epic version of the launcher installed.

You can use symbolic links in windows to bypass needing to have two full installations of the game files though.

Thanks Drelthar. It makes sense... :)
I have lots of space on my SSD, so two full installations is no problem.
But I was afraid that I would destroy my Steam installation, if I installed the Epic version.

I got an Alt freebie account last night via the Epic store. Separate install that ate 25gigs or so SSD HD space. Not too bad. Buggy and laggy as heck on Epic store last night 4-5 crashes back to desktop. My steam account and install has not crashed that I remember.

I have never had a serious crash from my ED Steam installation either.
Hmmm - I think I will only use the Epic version to try a brand new start. It's been so long that I actuallt can't remember the first months, where my only means of transportation was the Sidewinder... :)
