Epic Games launch Horizons in VR

I'm running ED through Epic Games and also have the Odyssey add-on which I don't play as it's mostly unplayable on my somewhat old machine (6th gen i7, 16gb, gtx 960). I was going to upgrade to a decent spec PC and get the G2 but with prices and semiconductor availability being what it is I've put it on a back burner. A friend has lent me their Quest 2 which I thought I'd try hook up to Elite to see if it was any good with a view to buying one in the interim. When I 'Launch in VR' from the options buttons within the Epic Games interface, the game automatically launches in Odyssey and I can't seem to find a way to launch the game in Horizons with VR. Does anyone know of a workaround for this ?

Have a look at https://github.com/Rfvgyhn/min-ed-launcher.
The developer of that has provided a list of switches you can use on the command line to start ED, including /vr, /edh etc. I'm not sure how this will work with the Epic launcher authentication, you might need have that running before running the cmd line.

You're going to need more GPU horsepower than a gtx960 to drive a Quest 2 full stop, with the Elite Dangerous Odyssey expansion's performance issues on top I would caution you to temper your expectations.

Thanks for the replies I'll give the Minimal Launcher a go, looking at the readme it seems it should work with Epic. I'm under no illusions my current setup is sub-par, but I refuse on point of principle to pay the current prices for a new gfx card, it's beyond joke ! Like I say, I have the Quest 2 on loan at the min, so if it's no good I'll just wait it out till prices calm down.

Just a quick note to say thanks to AlSki, the Minimal Launcher in conjuction with adding the additional command line arguments '/autorun /autoquit /vr /EDH' to both the ED and EDO settings within the Epic Games launcher did the trick. Also it ran surprisingly well on my old nail of a machine !

Glad to hear it.
I started in VR with a 960 running a Rift with a reasonable experience, and with the latest Odyssey update 7, got playable (dips down to 30FPS) @4K (Mid with performance FSR) on a 1070, so good luck with the "old nail" until prices settle. :)
