epic launcher broken after update 14

logged out from epic. closed the epic store launcher..
opened the epic store launcher again
logged in
selected to run elite dangerous .update begins about 2.8gb download
download completes,its updating.
update is done i open ED once more
ED launcher opens with big button upgrade
i hit the upgrade.
launcher freezes for half hour and does notthing.
ctrl-alt-delete kill the ed launcher process
started the ED launcher again
it opens with greyed out working..
launcher hangs
after 30 minutes of cat and mouse again ctrl-alt-delete
rinse and repeat.

now ED stopped launching at all, launcher opens but does notthing.

i have ED horizons,no odyssey i dont know what went wrong.it keeps downloading 2.8gb of stuff forever. basically all steps from the list.anyone have solution to make the launcher work? right now its dead for good. greyed out working,after pc reboot it downloads 2.8gb again and whole cat and mouse comedy begins.

logged into frontier store but it says i have no downloadable products, but i do have ED in epic store. weird..
cant download latest launcher and old is now dead completly. its stuck in working state.. closing it reverts it to upgrade state,the button does hang the launcher. closing it and reopening shows ed launcher working state but even after hour launcher is still in working state.

i got the ED on epic when was free too. trying to update game with epic store goes fine it downloads the 2.8gb thing but ed launcher fails to update. is there any alternate source where to download it?

Steam broken as well (can't login into account - invalid credentials? o_O), min-ed-launcher was able to update and launch game.

i opened network monitor and looking on edlaunch.exe theres very little traffic. so theres no any hot action ongoing. so its either epic players are moved to oblivion or the ed servers have problems handling epic users.

closing and reopening launcher does notthing. it hangs in preparing for update,difference is that if i close and reopen first time the progress bar is empty, i close and reopen and bar is full, i close and reopen bar is half full. on next launch it shows upgrade button and pressing it does magic and ed launcher go idle forever.

tried download using usb modem, cellphone tethering and wifi connection. no change - edlaunch.exe is dead.

EPIC FAIL.

It seems copies of the game owned through Epic no longer work.

Trying to open it sends the Launcher into a meltdown of saying the game needs to be bought/redeemed. Even though I've bene playing it for ages (since the free game was offered on Epic).

A helpful forum member tells me that a Fortnite event oversaturated Epic Online Services which is why authentication cannot be provided. As Epic holds the account data, Frontier can't verify and will deny access.
