Epilepsy Issuse

A friend of mine with epilepsy issues has problems dealing with the new light settings. His particular issue is when ships explodes. And I am curious if other people are having similar issues.

The problem with epilepsy is that everyone reacts to different stimuli, and what is no problem for one is a trigger for someone else.

It might help to turn off bloom though, it helped in one case I know (though already in Horizons). The bright lights didn't trigger a seizure, but made it very uncomfortable for him, feeling one might be just crawling up (called an aura). And make sure the frame rate is stable, which might also be part of the reason it is worse in Odyssey.

Further to the last, EDO has an in-game 'frame rate limiter' to help reduce extremes.

Disabling 'blur' may help lessen triggering of photosensitive ailments in many types of flashing gameplay (not sure whether 'blur' is even a factor of "ship explosion" rendering though!) I guess the darkness of space just cannot be avoided with EDO and so must make it one of the hardest game genres upon certain epileptics. Fair play to your friend for persevering with risky EDO though - that's dedication!

Thanks I'll relay that

Aura? Like how migraines with Aura works?

Edit: Just googled it and turns out both some kinds of Migraines and Seizures have auras. The more you know.
