I know there's already talk about making a limpet controller rack of some kind. My proposal is to also consider a sort of general "equipment rack". For balance, these could be made very simple:
* Comes in a variety of sizes, from 3-8 (or maybe just 3-5).
* It creates two slots that can be used for other smaller modules, restricted to things like surface+discovery scanners, limpet controllers, and docking computers.
* For balance purposes the slots would be 2 sizes smaller than the rack itself. For instance, a size-3 rack would have two size-1 slots. A size 6 rack would have a pair of size-4 slots.
This seems like it wouldn't be very exploitable in a detrimental way, as its main function would be to permit installing several small components, that you otherwise might not have room for, mainly those limpet controllers. It also permits consolidating the discovery and surface scanners into a single size-3 slot.
