Eravate - Where Next ?

I've got to the point where I have got my allegiance up to nearly every bar in Eravate, this is before I got the 'Horizons' add-on. I've now done the missions in Ceos & Sothis to help with my Federation ranking and have now moved down to the Wolf 397 [Home of the Engineer Tod 'The Blaster' Mcquinn] but can't see many systems to work or do job for here. Can't use my Federal Drop Ship as that's my bounty hunting ship (for the moment) as the FSD is standard and can't find a system near to upgrade it to a A Class. I can't jump to any Federal High Extraction Sites to get any bounties and don't know what to do or where to go.

Only been playing for about a month and so far got 161 million in the bank to play with but then again I am a Veteran of the the Original Elite when it was first launched on the BBC Micro and then played it on the Commodore Amiga. I was dubious to get it when it was launched for Xbox One but playing it now I wish I would of got it earlier so lots of catching up to do lol.

Obsidian Ant is the David Attenborough of Space, he's even on the Training Videos now !

Any tips and help with the above will be much appreciated, umm and and ahhing whether to do the Powerplay as well

Cheers fellow Commanders

I use this when I need to find things:
https://eddb.io/

Go to stations, add the module you're looking for, and your current system for reference.
If you check "Li Yong Rui" under powers it will filter for his systems which give a 15% discount on ships and modules.

I use this a lot too: https://inara.cz/

Getting allied with the minor factions is the best way to get more missions.
I also use the galmap trade functions to look for hubs in any new area, and base out of those systems.

Since you are in Wolf 397, a nice system (21ly away) is Pomeche https://eddb.io/system/15664 (I still remember the huge deep canyons of Pomeche 2 C). Its economy is based on Extraction/Refinery and there are few ringed bodies where you can find RES (sites) for bounty hunting. There are also bases there so it shouldn't be an issue any rearm/repair.

In order to get there with your Dropship, you can do 2 things: put few optional modules and weapons in the storage and leave the ship with internals. You can do this by buying other modules and put your engineered/better stuff in the storage (don't sell the engineered modules, be careful to select the PUT IN STORAGE). With an A-rated FSD your Dropship should achieve a 15-16Ly jump range (2 jumps to get to Pomeche). To reduce any risk to get stranded into the void, you can also use a FUEL SCOOP... once you arrive in Pomeche, transfer your old modules into the new base and put them back in the Dropship.

The second alternative is to use a "space taxi"... i.e. the best one is an HAULER or ADDER (with FSD A-rated makes 21LY jump) and then transfer the Dropship there. This is a bit more expensive as the ship transfer costs more than the multiple module transfers and you lose 10% of the ADDER value when you sell it [not going to be an issue with 161+M Cr in the bank).

Hope it helps.

EDIT: cuz I forgot yellow space taxis are Haulers :p

Thanks Rebel Yell for your reply, that's a great idea, it was what I was thinking of doing today. This helps a lot, cheers mate [up]

I use a Hauler as a taxi. Cheaper with better jump range, though not as cool as the Adder.

I got here in my Type 6 Transporter from Eravate, just added extra fuel tanks and didn't need a fuel scoop even though I had a 4A one, looks like taxi-ing around is the way to go in these systems and transferring ships and modules.

Replacing just one of his optional large mods with a fuel scoop would be considerably cheaper when gettting to his destination and shipping the one mod vs additional mods by being light enough to two jumps. Yes it will involve more jumps, but then, he'll have a fuel scoop to utilize. Farseer is a lot closer than Martuuk, generally.

Yep, indeed.

But I had no idea about his Dropship max LY jump range, so I gave the "taxi" alternative because even with a Fuel Scoop with a very short LY range and no scoopable stars in the range means he may become another client for the glorìous Fuel Rats :p

In the beginning after launch as a noob, I often made the mistake of overloading my python with cargo and had to resort to using the economy routing rather than the more expeditious routing. Though I rarely utilize it any more excep when doing explorering. It's is a feature many forget about before calling for the fuel rats.

alright Mythic

Keep the T6 - It makes a great little first explorer/taxi/collecting rares for engineers (you'll find out about that one). Sounds like you have cash but when I started I used my T6 for sightseeing missions too. You've then got your cash for combat ships if thats your thing

build it light and unarmed and its got a decent jump range
