Erm, so you broke the route I had plotted..?

As title, I had a 10Kly route plotted which I'm 1Kly into. I haven't played for a few days but it worked fine before the 3.0.4 update, post-update I get 'route plotting failed'.

Really?

Edit - OK you got me, I didn't realise I had to plot a route somewhere else first and then go back to plotting my original route for it to work, how ingenious.

Plot ahead in 1Kly increments to see where the problem area is, and then narrow it down even further to find the exact blockage.
There may have been a new locked area added........

If I log out it goes back to failed.

Yes, was thinking of shorter hops but notification of new locked areas would be welcome in the patch notes for us explorer types.

I'm reasonably sure that when FDev changed to route plotter limit from 1 kLY to 20 kLY they did it by plotting 20 sequential 1 kLY routes. There's a tendency for the route planner to throw in a short jump every 1,000 LY, before it goes back to max range again.

The planner is not 'remembering' you route between sessions, so if you log out, for example, at 1,500 LY and log back in this means that the short jump that was plotted for 2 kLY (on the original trip) is now a long jump and all subsequent jumps are different from the previous plot.
If your route skirts a permit-locked area then this change can whether it it plotable.

Not sure why plotting to somewhere else would work. Did you make any jumps on that route?

I see what you're saying Drew, makes sense. Funnily it will plot a route fine to an adjacent system 3LY further away. It will not plot a route to my original destination :D

Route plotting is not working at all. Failing at 27% for anything over a 1000LY and around 68% for 200-500LY. Its continuous throughout the day and misc over the past couple days as I only started some long range routing today. Its also not allowing cancellation of the failure where you have to select something closer to origin and create a temp route. Logging out and back in along with blasting off into supercruise from a planet surface does nothing. 458LY route failed at 80%. Rerouting a temp course of 10LY took 30 seconds to plot.
