erratic spawns and npc's that don't follow the same physics constrains as human players???

was bounty hunting in lhs-3447 b2 resource extraction site and began to notice a number of issues with the npc i was fighting. 1st of note was that the cobra III was flying faster in reverse than i was full forward in my eagle. even boosted several times to close the distance to no avail... assuming things were getting buggy, i stowed my hardpoints to jump away. here's where things get frustrating. with all pips in engines, and c class power distributor allowing for more frequent boosts, i attempted to jump when my distance from the cobra was just over 3k. i got the charging prompt but at half way it just stopped. i wasn't mass locked or otherwise inhibited by any nearby ships or structures. continuing to boost as frequent as possible i noticed i was also no longer increasing distance from the cobra either. due to this FSD "freeze" the cobra was able to get back within firing range and i lost my remaining hull resulting in the loss of my ship due to the FSD freezing.

another occurance of weirdness:

was hunting in the same system, before the aforementioned incident, and it seemed that when ever i'd get in interdiction range, the npc would despawn and reappear several thousand LS in a different location. (usually behind me) i'd turn around (since some would have very nice bounties) and by the time i was able to get in range, they'd despawn again only to reappear where they orignially were previously...

question:

has anyone else noticed such npc behaviors?

to the devs - is this how the spawn/despawn mechanic for npc's is supposed to function?

i'm all for populated systems, but if npc's just spawn for a set amount of time, disappear, and reappear... that just seems a bit broken to me. its another thing if they complete a route (i.e.whie in SC - spawn @ nav point/station ---> travel to next location) THEN despawn. but they are despawning mid-supercruise. it is most noticeable between vastly separated locations like those in lhs-3447.

thoughts?

those behaviors sound like another player was hosting the system/running those NPCs and you had a poor connection to them. in other words, network issues.

Never seen this happen.

I do see them fly past me at incredible speed (pass me like I am at a full stop) in SC and exit SC right at the station I am traveling to. I'd love to know what FSD they are using to allow them to do that.

and herein lies the main reason i HATE P2P connectivity... i hope dedicated servers are in the works because this is going to cause major problems for many players when connecting from around the world... i made a suggestion back in early beta about implementing an onscreen indicator that would show your connection strength to the "instance" that you're in. seems to have been swept under the rug it seems...
