Error Vcruntime140.dll

I had to reinstall Elite Dangerous it took over eight hours to install because I have a poor connection only downloading at around 2.95 mbs so hence why it took so long.
Well, when I launched the game from the Frontier launcher, it came up with that message. I've tried to reinstall the C++ but to no avail; it says it's already installed. I've looked on every site I know. As you can guess, I don't want to reinstall the game only as a last resort. If anyone can help, I've sent a ticket to Fdev, but I'm sure they will say the same as I've already done.

kind regards

i had to reinstall windows and elite was the first game I installed, and came up with this problem, I've installed two other games with no problem running them thanks for your help il give it a go, update I tried that yesterday but it wouldn't install as it says the program is all ready installed on my system. i also validated the files twice.

This is the visual C++ you need: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685

Now, this can be a little annoying depending on the release year. Prior to 2015 this would happen:

If there is a later version installed, you won't be able to install the newer version.
Some games need the earlier version and have not been pacthed to recognise the newer version.
What you need to do is uninstall the newer verison, then install the older version, then reinstall the newer version if other programs need that.

HOWEVER - Since 2015 Microsoft provided a consolidated version that should dispense with the need for that.

The latest version of that can be found here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You should download and install the x86 and x64 versions.
