Escape Pod to nearest station in system else NPC recovery after 24hrs or player rescued.

Provide the fix for the Escape Pod to nearest Dock OR available next day after NPC Recovery if there's non in current system unless rescued by Players: a Rescue Ship to pickup your Pod and take it to their next dock for a reward. If they fail to do so within 24hours then it is assumed to be recovered via NPC.
Therefore, provide a graphic of the Pod leaving the exploded ship upon destruction. Sure if it gets destroyed in combat then it reverts to last station docked for player immediately (thereby a good benefit clause if in a Wing).

It would be a neat escape mechanic, to make things like suicide by Sidewinder a bit less of an incentive to get rid of bounties.
One tweak I'd add to it is, make the escape pod do an automatic mini super cruise jump (to an instance a short distance away). This would make them more protective in combat situation.
Also, a system to make the in-game rescue ships more relevant is by only letting the rescue ships actively track escape pods. Others would only see the mas weak signal sources.
When multi crew becomes a reality, they could add a feature to fit a limited search scanner for your wing mates. To allow them to find you and pick you up.
 
Just to be sure...you want to force players to take a 24h break when they die and there is no other player or station nearby?
I thought the content of this thread is exactly as silly as it sounds when I read it yesterday, but I wanted to let others post first to make sure.
