Escape pods and a new dynamic to the game

For more immersion in the game, I would love to see more detail around the assumed commander escape when the current ship is destroyed,
A distress beacon, perhaps with a monetary reward attached?\
Any thoughts?
 
I'd like for our escape pods to actually eject, and spend about 10-15 seconds in space before speeding off through hyper-space and super cruise to our destination.

Maybe get scooped, and sold into a life of slavery? I think they're waiting until they implement the "walk around" portion of the game. I don't think too many buyers will be impressed by how well I sit in a chair all day.
 
Im sure I've seen this exact proposal at least twice in the past week...

Tl:dr On at least 10 active threads at the moment seems to be: Elite is not a perfect simulator or perfect arcade game. It needs to be in between to keep players long term.
