So I terminate some "wanted" sentry skimmers and go to pick up some legal salvage at 'Irregular Markers' and I see an occupied ecape pod. Is there some bounty for picking this up and reurning it to a station?

There is an engineer called Ettiene Dorn out in Colonia who wants occupied escape pods for the unlock, but don’t worry about collecting them for that until you are out there.
