Escort available!!!

Hey,
I have a pimped Cobra with lots of cool weapons and missiles, shield banks and military grade composite armour. I've not met any other players yet (I tend to explore at the edges of the galaxy). I thought it might be fun to provide escort protection to another player who needs to transport a valuable cargo or the like. I'd just be in it for the bounty claims I could get on any bother we encounter! I'm currently in the Zlotaikua system which is about 170 light years from Sol.

Unfortunately there is no real way to provide escort service as of yet. If they get interdicted, they're alone. When FD implement wings that should change.

I am also waiting for this option.

Actually his buddies can jump into his interdiction through FSD wake...Two FSD wake will be left behind, one for the interdicted and one for the interdictor. Problem is you don't know which one is your friend's wake, so if you choose wrong the instance will be empty.

So yes, there is no definite mechanic in place yet.

Didn't think of that. I stand corrected. But yeah, it'll be nice when it's the mechanics are a little more comprehensive.

Sure you do, you can see them pop out of the interdiction if you're as close as you should be.

IMO escorting would work, not as well as it should, but it'd work. Piracy isn't usually a quick business, as scooping takes a while. The problem is, there's no enough threats in the galaxy for an escort to be worth it.

You could provide protection to miners. It takes time for them to get to the good stuff, and they woudn't have to watch their back all the time.

Surely if the interdictor successfully interdicts the interdictee and you jump the interdictee's FSD wake you will end up in the same instance as both by virtue of the fact that the successful interdictor is now in the same instance as the interdictee?

Seems quite straightforward to me!

:D

There are many examples of CMDRs playing and supporting each other all over YouTube. It can be done. I think the best to find out it to try it. Kate Russell has been streaming every night on twitch. Last night ther must have been 20 players following her escapades around the Galaxy. Check it out for yourself tonight at around 7pm GMT. Her Twitch name is Kateclick.

it would be much better if wakes from players on your friend-list would have different coloured wakes.
and or if you have them targeted the target would jump to the wake.

If the interdiction is successful you will have two FSD wakes... problem is which one is your buddy's !?
It is P2P instance so if you chose the NPC one... tough luck, it will show empty.

We been discussing this amongst our group as we do this all the time to help each other out in missions and other activities. Success is counted at 30% which is too low but proves that the basic mechanic works.

Next step we need a FSD wake ID to know which one is the correct one. A different colour for example.

edit: Natte shared the idea already ;)

I see what you mean - it would make sense if your wing buddy was green on the scanner and so was their FSD wake..

Not green, I have plenty of friendlies already amongst the NPCs.

Blue would do it. And on top of that the same SC speed mechanics as the USS approach. I can make a fine tuned speed/distance approach to fall out of SC with a good throttle quadrant but the KB / Xbox guys can't do it that good.

Multiplayer is non existent in this game.

Stop talking trash unless you actually tried it properly and thoroughly.

It doesn't work all the time but it works.

AND NO it is not your usual MMO let's gather up, teleport and down a boss somewhere.

It is a Open game, where MP is possible if you want.

Big difference.
