Escort Missions.

Looking for a reason to fly a small ship and can't come up with one except escort missions where having a small ship is a requirement. I can't see a reason to have a small ship in this game. I posted this on the elite reddit but wanted to throw the idea out here as well.

There are loads of reasons to fly a small ship. You might feel invincible in a big ship but that is far from the truth.
I am flying small ships all the time and they are really good at the tasks I give them. Sure I also use big ships for certain activities like Hauling and Mining.

If you only play solo you are safe in a big ship. However in open this is not the case

Also, the Dolphin is one of the easiest ships to explore with, once engineered for range. You don't even need to worry about stars when flying it, the thing will sit on top of them and hardly get above 50% heat...

Fine, but all these things could have been done easier in a big ship. I'm looking for a reason to fly small other than it's harder.

I'm currently flying a Dolphin, while doing dying in Odyssey missions, and enjoying it immensely. Just starting to engineer it as well.

I guess you will not see why big ships are not easier in all situations. Once you steer away from multi purpose ships and start using specialized ships you will see why small and medium ships have a place. For instance: The fastest ships are Small ships.

I have two 850m/s+ Viper MKIII + iEagle for rapid election delivery postmen, data scans, race...lots of other uses...things like datalink hack etc missions you don't need a big ship!

I mean, my best fighter is a... my favorite is a medium ship. A double frag Mamba, which I love.
