Just wondering if anyone ever thought of / does this.
We have the fuel rats who save people's bacon when they find themselves stuck & out of juice. These guys have well-deserved fame & kudos to them.
But there's another scenario that might benefit from a similarly organised group: explorers re-hitting civilisation, whether that's the bubble, colonia, or any other civ pockets that may arise in future.
At this time, an explorer must face the risk of running into aggro, which commonly they're not prepared for due to their stripped down ship builds. Smaller ships with weak hulls & slower ships that can't run away easily are particularly at risk.
Now to ensure they don't run into any bloodthirsty players, explorers can slip into solo / pg, and I suspect many do, but that won't necessarily protect them from bloodthirsty npc's - in fact if they've gone solo they've cut off their lifeline for any support altogether.
So - what about an escort service armed to the teeth, that wings up to bring people home to dock? Good / pointless idea? Something for the rats to consider as an auxiliary arm, or anyone else think its worth doing / is doing this already?
