Escorts for Hire

I would like to be able to hire escorts for missions (trade usually, but others too). They would drop into my instance when I exit supercruise and act against hostile ships. Payment would vary by NPC pilot rank and ship type.

So are they going to flutter their eye lashes and show a bit of leg to distract these hostile males. Or is it going to be the whole works, with dinner etc., because I am wondering, who is going to pay; for any extras?

At least I wasn't the only one who thought of this first.....

"Need Escort - prefer athletic type and able to hold meaningful conversation for 50,000Ly travel to distant Solar Systems. Ability to fly an SLF will be considered higher priority and signing of a consent to a no escape pod clause."

Yes, in hindsight the title was unfortunate but I don't appear to be able to change it.

So, we're all going to have to be responsible adults and discuss the merits of hiring NPC fighter escort protection without having to rework large chunks of code.

I'm not suggesting NPC wings, just tweak the mechanic that attracts NPC pirates and mission-associated unfriendlies so that I can hire an NPC to shadow my travels for a period of time.

Sorry my bad: I was trying to put a positive spin, on what is otherwise a negative topic. We/many, have been calling for NPC wing mates for years; only to be ignored and told to get good and we wouldn't need them.

I have a simple mind.... I see escorts and I think of....escorts.

But yes.. NPC wing mates would be great.. or even the ability to hire (and reward?) a live Commander for escort.

Currently we could use Discord to ask someone to help escort you into to the system; but that can be as effective as yelling out your door for a hot pocket when you live by yourself. From escorts of traders and minders, recently returned explorers with loads of data, or combat escorts is just a small piece we would all like to see (I imagine).

Escort missions suck. Part of the payout, all of the risk, and when someone else fails, you fail.
