Essential "Reskins"

Apologies if a similar thread has been made before, if so feel free to direct me too it! :>

As the title implies, what "reskin" animal(s) do you consider essential for a realistic zoo, whether it be for worldwide parks or for those in a specific region? I put reskin in quotes because I really just mean animals very similar to existing ones rather than straight up reskins, which Frontier doesn't really do anyways (aside from one infamous exception...). How high priority would this animal be for you? Would it be worth taking up a slot in a DLC or would you rather have it as an anniversary animal (if we get another one that is, but that's a discussion for another thread.)? An example that many have brought up elsewhere is the American black bear, a common carnivoran in North American zoos.

Also, I know the criteria for a "reskin" varies between people. I'm thinking animals that mostly use the same animations, maybe audio, etc.. Really the only major change being a new model in most cases. That being said, feel free to use whatever criteria you see fit!.

I'll have to advocate for the little blue penguin, as they're the only warm weather penguin found in Oceanian zoos (as far as I know) and a pretty much essential animal for most zoos set in New Zealand. The two in game penguin species are way too different from them to be used as a stand in, so I think they're distinct enough to warrant inclusion, plus they're just downright adorable and also found in overseas zoos here and there. I wouldn't take them over a kiwi or kea, but I'd still say they're a high priority animal for Aotearoa and Australia (at least to me).

(Also I realize that this would prolly fit better in the animals section of the forum, sorry about that! If a mod sees this please feel free to move it over!)

Like, instantly this thread has muddied what "reskin" even means. If the little blue penguin is a "reskin" of the other two penguins, then what animal isn't a "reskin"?

There's never going to be a consensus on what "reskin" actually means. Personally, I only count animals that require the least amount of visible effort to make, such as more bears, tigers, etc. With that logic I wouldn't class the blue penguin as a "reskin" in the strictest sense, no more than the lion is a reskin of the tiger (or vice versa).

If we're talking technical POV it's actually quite straightforward. "Reskin" simply means "same model, different texture". Nothing more, nothing less.

Well yeah, the only literal reskin in the game is the Malayan tapir, but the board has created its own meaning for the word.
