I think it would have taken the same amount of dev time currently invested in the game to properly model that.

1300 years from now, Eta Carinae might not even exist as we know it anymore, especially considering ED's faster-than-light travel effectively subtracts 7500 years from the star's life. It's still under debate, but Eta Carinae could go supernova (as seen from Earth) within our lifetime.
