Eta Carinae

So I have been reading up a bit on this star system from our perspective here in 2015, and supposedly it is suppose to go hypernova or supernova, our pictures of this show a nebula of ejected gasses, but these are not reflected in game.

Thoughts?

I don't think Hyper/Supernova are in the game (yet?), but I think if we are seeing it now in 2015, perhaps 1300 years into the future it would be exhausted and no longer be seen?

Unfortunately there's a limit to what the game's engine can do. I think the Eta Carinae system is way beyond what is possible. If you look at the photos, can you imagine trying to render that in real time and make it look light years wide :)

Its like stars - its just not possible to render them. They are so bright there is no monitor in the world capable of accurately showing the brightness.

And if there were, FD (or the monitor's manufacturers) would be inundated with lawsuits from blind and incinerated users.

Clearly pilots helmets have a regional tinting system to allow pilots to fly without being blinded by stars.

Yeah that's the reasoning I go with as well.

There are a number of things in the Actual, Real Universe that aren't in our ED Galaxy, like accretion disks and pulsar jets. Hopefully someday we'll be able to see these thing.

I am thinking this is what they are using for the nebula around Eta Carinae. Thank you for the info and link.

It would be nice to actually see the star throw out solar flares, and also see accretion discs, and pulses from pulsars.

Maybe one day.

Thank you all for the info and kind responses.
