Its like stars - its just not possible to render them. They are so bright there is no monitor in the world capable of accurately showing the brightness.
And if there were, FD (or the monitor's manufacturers) would be inundated with lawsuits from blind and incinerated users.
Clearly pilots helmets have a regional tinting system to allow pilots to fly without being blinded by stars.
Nebula's take longer then that to diffuse. The Crab nebula for example is around 1000 years old (having gone supernova around 1000 AD).
