perhaps FD feeds to create a community opportunity for the artistic out there to come up with some nice designs that they can drop into the game, one colour "paint jobs" are not exactly inspiring.

Well they had a Community paintjob competition and a Black and yellow striped Conda won. It looked awful.

The Medusa styled Cobra did actually look good, even with the simple colour palatte rules.

Elite has a good art department, the game looks amazing. How about producing some artwork for our ships?

Hey and check out the price of those Euro Truck paintjobs.

What would be better was if they created paint job tools for us in game (something that almost every race game now has). Imagine the wacky crap you would see flying around the place XD

This is why I have never understood the comparison. Its like people watch a youtube video of some guy trading and think "Hmm... this 3 minute video clearly must present ALL of this game's content". It's like watching a video of a flight sim and believing that as all the video contained was a startup procedure, the game doesn't actually let you fly the plane.

Try Archeage. Either sail a merchant schooner loaded with trade goods on cross continent runs with a few buddies, or load up a farm wagon and drive between the 2 most distant provinces for high profits at high risk of ganking once you leave the safe areas...

Succesfully escaping an attack by player pirates is an exhilerating experience.

ED is Space Truck Simulator. No need to put Euro in there :D

I wish I could take a truck, land it on a moon and then bounce it along the craters in the low gravity... actually, I don't think I'm being sarcastic here.

Its weird, I do enjoy playing ETS 2 but I don't enjoy trading in Elite.

In ED trucking is as easy as ETS 2 but its a lot more abstract.

But I understand the comparison.

It would be awesome, with raiders and convoys. Mmmm this game is so empty.

They are still more impressive than a varying selection (for some not all ships) of single colour. Tacky they are, but at least an effort was made. Prime example, the FDL, whose every pay for "paintjob" is less detailed than the default.
